Yoga

Zyrka’s yoga classes are a blend of asana (postures) pranayama (breathing techniques) mantra (chanting) and mudra (hand gestures) Through gentle flowing sequences, our intention is to restore the inherent wholeness of body and mind. Sequencing and practice are suitable for all levels of practitioner, and many of the practices offered are intended to attune the subtle body, while creating space and ease in the physical form.

Zyrka graduated from her 500+ hour yoga teacher training in 2001, under the direction of Yogini adept Uma Parvathinath in the Saraswati River Yoga Tradition, a Kaula tradition and philosophy in which Zyrka’s teaching is rooted. She has continued her study over the intervening years, and taught yoga full-time for over 10 years prior to the birth of her first child in 2011. Zyrka has taught a range of classes including ashtanga, vinyasa, gentle yoga, chair yoga and adaptive instruction for prenatal students and cancer survivors. It is her belief that accessibility to these practices and wisdom teachings are essential.

Zyrka gently weaves the beauty of Jyotish into her asana classes, and highlights subtle, energetic practice.
